Ipad pro (11 inch) 3rd generation vs 4th generation

Introduction

Hello reader, My name is Satyam, and I'll try to distinguish between two iPads, both of which are 11 inches in size and appear to be nearly identical from the outside, but they were released in two different years and are referred to as the third and fourth generations, respectively, so let's take a closer look.

Actually, this blog will be my first personal blog that I am writing, as I have done some internships as a technical blogger, and I always love to know about technologies more and more, so I am starting to write a blog about it.

I wanted to buy an iPad Pro in 2020, but my financial situation would not allow it, so I kept an eye on the device to see which was launching and which was already available, what the prices were, and whether it was worth it.

So let's see what's new about the fourth generation, how it compares to the third generation, and whether it's worth it.

Design

So let's start with some iPad view design elements. Except for the iPad Air (5th generation), all iPads and Apple ecosystem devices are known for their durability (both in software and hardware). The iPad Air 5th generation is having some issues that are being faced by many users, and it is the first device from the Apple ecosystem that is not perfectly balanced.

The ipad pro 4th generation and 3rd generation are identical, and no one can tell the difference except that the ipad pro 3rd generation has "ipad" written on the back down side, whereas the ipad pro 4th generation has "ipad pro."

and this difference is not so special that anyone can pay Rs 10,000 for that, so let's come to the price difference.

Price

Apple ecosystems are always somewhat more expensive, and that is not affordable for some people like me, but I also say that each and every penny paid for Apple ecosystem gears is worth it and can't be matched with any other device available in the market.

All prices were fine prior to Apple's most recent launch event, but now that they have released a new device, the iPad 3rd generation, they are no longer available on the Apple website, and all other device prices are also increasing. Like the iPad 9th generation, which was at 29000 but is now at 33000, or the iPad Air 5th generation, which was almost at 54000 but is now at 59000, I believe it is all about marketing ideas.

And when I talk to Apple customer service, they say they improved some functionalities, so they have increased the price, but in my view, this statement is just to make fools of us and nothing more than that.

The iPad Pro 4th generation starts at INR 82000, while the iPad Pro 3rd generation starts at INR 72000; that is a direct 10,000 price increase, and the main difference is that it will attract buyers. That is the process, and we will discuss it later.

But first, let's talk about the availability of both iPad Pro generations.

Availability

Now let's talk about the availability. Like the iPhone 14 Pro, it is not the case that the new one is not available or that it is not available everywhere in India, from retail to online shopping sites such as Reliance Digital, Flipkart, Amazon, Croma, Jio Mart, and so on.

The iPad Pro 4th generation is available everywhere in the market with all the variants you want to choose, and since it is new, it is also currently available.

However, it is the opposite in the case of the iPad 3rd generation: I believe it is the perfect device in terms of price, but it is currently out of stock from many sites or retailers shops except Kolkata, and I was unable to find it in my local area or nearby Bihar, and it was also not available in Delhi or Uttar Pradesh.

Processor

Let's now get into the main difference, which is the processor:

The iPad 4th generation contains the M2 chip, which is only manufactured by Apple and used in the IMAC, which is included in the world's most powerful PC.

The iPad Pro 3rd generation, on the other hand, contained the M1 chip, which is also manufactured by Apple and is the most powerful system, but it is also somewhat older.Because there is always competition among buyers, this is all about that, and nothing can be done about it.

Many users I've met who have the ipad pro M1 chip say it's more than enough for the ipad, but M2 is also available, so it all comes down to marketing and competition. I also met some users of the iPad with the M2 chip who couldn't explain why they chose the M2 over the M1.

In reality, the ipad pro cannot use the efficient power of the M1, but due to marketing and competition, they introduced the M2, so if you are going to buy an ipad pro, look for the third generation if it is available in your area as it is less than $10,000 cheaper.

While I will never say that the M2 is bad; it is the most powerful package and the most futureproof device on the market; however, for the budget buyer, I recommend the M1 chip.

Minor difference

This blog is not all about the difference; it's more about what I think of the device as per my suggestion, so it will be more about my perspective, which can change person by person, so please continue to read my blog.

Some of the minor changes concern the camera: the 4th generation includes a photo recording feature called "ProRes" that allows it to record high-quality video, but who records or films video on an iPad? That's why I included this as a minor difference because it will not affect users. iPads are used by designers or gamers, but in my view, I have never seen anyone filming with an iPad 11-inch.

The next change is hovering. Who gives a damn about that also? Also, it is a big difference, but if it costs 10K, I don't think that it will affect the user to hover for 10K.

As demonstrated in the Apple Hover launch presentation, the feature that is very hard-core in the arts or for professionals is for the iPad Pro.

We have completely forgotten what "pro" means in terms of the iPad Pro or any other device with the word "pro" in its name due to competition and marketing ideas. The pro stands for professional, which means that this is not just an entertainment or fun device; it is for professionals who rely on it, whereas the iPad Pro, regardless of generation, is not powerful enough for people to rely on.

It is just a secondary or tertiary device in the ecosystem that makes the workflow easy, and it can never replace the Mac Mini, Mac Studio, or Mac Air in terms of working performance.

And there are some other features, such as Wi-Fi 6e and 5g, which will be better supported in it, which is again a matter of future proofing, and I don't think we need that for the next 1 or 2 years because the Ipad pro 3rd generation will suffice.

It uses the same iPad OS as the older generation iPad Pro, but it ensures you'll be up to date on more functionalities, which I also include in the minor differences because paying extra money for a new interface is out of the question for budget users.

The iPad Pro 4th generation also includes a faster interface speed with the USB Type-C connector, up to 40 gigabytes per second, which is a matter of professional judgement with such a setup as to whether such a transfer rate is usable or if it will be similar to using the Hero Splendor with its 1000cc engine.

There will also be some professional apps added to the iPad 4th generation, such as DaVinci software, and others that we will discuss later, when they will be provided and when they will be usable by the public, but I can guarantee that they will be expensive, which a budget user will never be able to afford.

Display

While the display is the same as the previous generation, there is a significant difference.

Will you buy the Hero Splendor 1000cc, which will have a maximum speed of 70 km/hr and an old look? The new iPad Pro generation is no exception.

Simply put, the M2 is placed and sold as the 4th generation iPad Pro in the box of the 3rd generation iPad Pro, and it is also not using its full power. It's the same as putting a 1,000-cc engine in a Hero splendor bike and only being able to use the power for display and marketing.

In terms of display, I will repeat and emphasise that it is merely a marketing ploy because, at this price, we should be able to get the iPad's 12.9-inch display, which is a pack of 10000 LEDs that shows the black as a true black and with high nits of power.

but in the 11-inch Ipad pro 4th generation, we get the same as the old one: we get an 11-inch promotion display, which is basically an adaptive 120 Hz display known as a "liquid retina display," which is the best sort of screen available and can be compared to the Samsung display of a costly smart phone in terms of picture quality.

I'm not a big fan of Samsung, but in terms of display, Samsung is the market king, because it provides the best display in the low-end segment, which is incomparable to other Redmi or Realme phones (this is just a reference, because I'm currently using a Poco X2, and I'm pleased with it).

Accessories

Begin with the apple pencil. It supports the Apple pencil 2, which is the same as the ipad pro 3rd generation and is the best in the market; nothing compares to this, but there are some other manufacturers who sell a pencil for all Ipad's that ranges from INR 1500 to 3000 and works just as well except that it lacks pressure sensitivity, but there is a price difference of 6,000 to 7,000, and for budget users, I will never recommend buying the Apple pencil 2nd generation.

and other magic keyboards and covers, which are so expensive that you could buy an iPad 9th generation with them, and I will never recommend them for budget users because their functionalities are too advanced for them.

Conclusion

Now it's time to conclude the whole discussion, so let's discuss one or two things.

If you already own an Ipad 3rd generation, there is no reason to upgrade to the 4th generation. If you are on a tight budget, you can also buy the 3rd generation ipad pro, which is much cheaper now than the Ipad 4th generation.

And if you are too addicted and passionate about the new Apple device, or if you want to always be updated, you can look at the 4th generation 11-inch or 12.9-inch iPads, because there is no reason to buy it otherwise.

As I finish the blog, I'll share my thoughts: I was very excited about the new iPad Pro, and before its launch, there were a lot of fake news stories about how it would be like this or that, but after the launch event, I was sad about the fact that Apple is now in the market and competing with other companies, and under the pressure of that, they have to launch a device that will increase their competitiveness, but at what cost? .

As my first blog, please ignore my silly mistakes and do comment on what you want me to talk about and anything you can ask about related to the iPad. Also, please suggest topics for my next blog. I assure you that I will read your comments and will surely reply, so last but not least, do comment, like, and share.
